Machine Vision Systems for Flexible Manufacturing
Projects include:
3D Machine Vision
Publications3D Machine Vision
The project involves developing a vision system which is integrated on a robotic welding arc in order to provide automated feedback for manufacturing, re-manufacturing and correction of high-value parts such as gas turbines in the aerospace industry. Using the latest stereo vision algorithms, high accuracy 3D reSummaryconstructions of targets are performed enabling automated robotic welding. There is also potential for further applications which require automated systems in other industries.
The vision system provides positional and structural information for monitoring and inpection purposes, enabling the system to detect faults and defects within the parts and determine the appropriate re-manufacturing or correction procedure required.
Vision system arc strike.
Edge detection is used to determine the position and orientation and used to detect cracks or defects of blades.
